Ashdon Magazine - Summer 2025
News from the Vicarage!
'We are delighted that God has called the Revd Romey Poston to be our new priest at Ashdon and Hadstock. Romey comes to us from Oxford Diocese where she has served as the curate in the Langtree Ministry Team. She will move in the summer and be licensed in early September. Romey comes with a huge passion for ministry and pastoral care as well as extensive international experience. She worked as a foreign correspondent in the Indian Subcontinent, before becoming Executive Director of an NGO establishing cross border aid programmes to Afghanistan. Romey later married a senior diplomat and has three grown children. She also has a keen interest in Art and history, and loves walking her dog. Please pray for Romey as she leaves her current post to be with us and we look forward to welcoming her.
The Ven. Kate Peacock
Archdeacon of Stansted'
This is great news for Ashdon. Romey will live in Ashdon, in our Vicarage on the Radwinter Road, ministering to all in Ashdon and Hadstock. Her’s is a part time role as Associate Priest in the Saffron Walden and Villages Ministry. We are looking forward to welcoming her and supporting her in our fantastic community, which already has so much to offer. We hope her presence with us will enable us to do so much more and to lead us in Faith.

The whole Parish is invited to Romey’s Licencing by Roger, Bishop of Colchester at All Saints Church. This will be a joyful occasion where Romey can meet with the whole village. It’s a symbolic and ceremonial occasion which also marks the official start of her ministry in Ashdon and Hadstock.

All Saints Church is open daily and always here for our village! Faith or Church can be many things to many people, in many different ways. All Saints is here for us all, whatever your needs. Villagers and visitors alike, come in everyday for peace, for quite reflection, for prayer, for our shared local and national and international history, for a connection with God or for personal spiritual needs.
All Saints is also very much here for your weddings, baptisms and funerals. It is both an accommodating and intimate space. We have been blessed to celebrate the life of three people during April and May, with the funerals of Jennifer Williams, Raymond Hammond and Cherry Fisher.
We already have three weddings being planned for next year. Please come and visit us and have a chat if you or your family are considering this important and joyful event.
For all your others needs please see the contact information below…
We really look forward to sharing Gods love with you. Remember, the building is open every day, and do reach out to us if you would like to know more about what we do or you need help in any way.
